Meet the Team
Brettany Makuch, MN-NP(F)
Family Nurse Practitioner, Owner
Some may say Brettany has been playing nurse since she first developed the ability to put a Band-Aid on a wound as a toddler. She was always interested in caring for people. This interest led her to a volunteer opportunity at a hospital as a young teen, which sparked a passion in healthcare that she has never looked back from. She has been working in healthcare in many different capacities for over ten years. She started her career working as a Registered Nurse in Prince George, where she was born and raised, before relocating to the Peace Region to pursue a role in cancer care. As an Oncology Nurse, Brettany specialized in providing care to individuals and their families across the cancer care trajectory. While working in the North it became evident that there was and continues to be a lack of access to healthcare services in the area. This experience led Brettany to becoming a Family Nurse Practitioner, through UNBC’s MScN Nurse Practitioner Program. During the program Brettany took a special interest in Women’s Health and conducted her capstone project on the topic of breast cancer survivorship. Recognizing her own interests in healthcare, as well as the needs of the community, Brettany decided to open a private Women’s Health and Wellness Clinic in Fort St. John, and this is how Longevity Care Clinic was born. Brettany wants women to have the opportunity to enhance their health and wellbeing at a Nurse Practitioner-led clinic. Her background in the nursing philosophy and it's strong rooting in the holistic care approach, in combination with her current training in medicine, provides her with a unique set of skills that can help support women in their journey to wellness. Brettany was fortunate to have fallen in love with the Peace Region soon after moving to the area in 2013. She met her now-husband in the area and they travelled all around the world together before settling down and having their daughter. Outside of the clinic Brettany enjoys trying out new parks with her daughter, spending time with family and friends, learning new skills, organizing homes, and pursuing a simple, minimalist lifestyle. Brettany feels fortunate to have the ongoing support of family, friends, and community in pursuing her passion to open up her own health and wellness clinic. Brettany intends to use Longevity Care Clinic as a means to offer the community of Fort St. John services they may not otherwise have access to and will be continually expanding, as she feels the options for providing care in the community are limitless.

Julia also brings a wealth of knowledge to the clinic, as she is trained as a physician assistant.
Rosemarie Dirks

A life time resident of the Fort St John area, Rosemarie resides in Charlie Lake with her husband and two young children. She values time with family and friends, and believes in caring for others no matter their background. Some of the things she enjoys are time alone out in the garden or hiking in nature. On a warm summer day you might find her with her family, down at the river enjoying some water fun. Rosemarie is a hardworking, positive and enthusiastic professional who is not afraid to state things the way she sees it. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing through Athabasca College, while working nearly fulltime as a practical nurse in the Fort St John hospital. Having spent the majority of her career in obstetrics, Rosemarie has developed a passion for caring for women.
